Republican Steve Harding became the new State Representative for the 107th District last night, defeating Democrat Howard Lasser by more than 200 votes, unofficial results show.
“Thank you everyone for your support. It means the world to me…It’s nice to have somebody from my generation who understand the needs and the wants of the young people graduating. I know what it’s like to try and find work here in the state, it’s darn near impossible…I want to advocate for policies that help bring jobs to the state because we know one thing, it’s not acceptable to be last in job growth. This state has way too much to offer, and we’re going to start advocating for those policies which really boom our resources in this amazing state.”
Tuesday night marked the second time in three months that voters went to the polls to elect a state representative. Harding filled a a vacant seat in the state House of Representatives previously held by Rep. David Scribner for 16 years. Scribner vacated the seat last month, just days after being re-elected, when he accepted a position on the state Liquor Control Commission.
