Remembering…..and Honoring Those Who Gave Their Lives on 9/11

Fourteen years ago our nation was changed forever.  Please take a moment today to honor those who perished.  The first moment of silence will take place at 8:46 to mark the first plane that hit the towers.  There will be a total of six moments of silence to remember when the other planes crashed and when the twin towers fell.  Names of those who died will once again be read this year at the 9/11 memorial site in New York City this morning.

The remembrance tradition began when firefighters unfurled a large American flag from the top of the Pentagon building in Washington, DC.

Today many family members of those who were lost will carry photos of their loved ones during the ceremony in New York.

Tonight at 6:00 p.m. the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department and the Boy Scouts will hold a Remembrance Ceremony on the lawn of the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center at 1 School Street in Bethel, CT.
