Reckless Driving at 90 MPH Results in Fatal Collision in Hendricks County; Man Charged

Plainfield, Indiana — A 27-year-old man has been charged following a high-speed crash in Hendricks County that killed a woman and left several others injured. Authorities say the crash involved speeds exceeding 90 mph, contributing to the deadly collision in June 2024.

Charges Filed Against Driver

The Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges on December 5 against Inderdeep Singh, 27, in connection with the incident. Singh faces:

  • Felony counts of reckless homicide
  • Felony criminal recklessness
  • Misdemeanor reckless driving causing bodily injury

Singh had an initial hearing on Tuesday and was issued a $3,500 cash bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 28.

Details of the Fatal Crash

Court documents and police reports indicate the crash involved an orange Dodge Challenger and a red Kia Sportage. The vehicles ended up on opposite sides of the road:

  • Challenger: north side, facing east, with significant front-end damage
  • Sportage: south side, facing northwest, with damage to the back and side

Emergency responders discovered two children lying in the road and the driver of the Sportage, Pamela Parker, unresponsive and slumped over the wheel. CPR was performed at the scene before she was transported to a hospital. The children and two adult passengers were also taken to hospitals for treatment.

A Good Samaritan witnessed the crash and pulled the children from the vehicle to help, according to police reports.

Victim Dies From Injuries

Investigators confirmed the next day that Pamela Parker had succumbed to her injuries, making the crash fatal. Several other passengers sustained serious, life-altering injuries.

Speed and Vehicle Data Confirm Reckless Driving

Singh told investigators that Parker had made a sudden U-turn, claiming he didn’t have time to slow down. Witnesses corroborated that the Sportage turned in front of the Challenger, leaving little reaction time.

However, vehicle data from the Challenger revealed a more alarming speed pattern:

  • 73 mph five seconds before impact
  • 93 mph just 1.8 seconds before impact
  • Brakes applied 1.6 seconds before impact, at 91 mph
  • Final impact speed: 65 mph

The posted speed limit in the area was 35 mph, highlighting the extreme recklessness of Singh’s driving.

Data from the Sportage confirmed Parker had performed a U-turn at the intersection, consistent with both Singh’s account and eyewitness reports. Investigators concluded that Singh’s excessive speed caused the fatality and serious injuries to passengers.

Authorities Cite Life-Altering Impact

Court documents note that Singh was “driving at such an unreasonably high rate of speed” that it directly led to Parker’s death and inflicted life-altering injuries on other passengers.

The case underscores the dangers of high-speed driving and the consequences it can have on innocent road users.
