THOUGHT AND POEM

More times than not, we live each day of our lives wishing that we could do better, be better and offer more to the world. And at times, it feels like, nothing we do seems to work and the “do better, be better, and the offer more to the world thingy” is not happening. It is just a harsh reality in life. Kind of what it is like when a batter goes up to bat during a game. He gets thrown a few balls, and he swings; he may allow one to pass by, he may swing and miss, he might connect and get a hit, or he just might get hit by the ball. No matter, he would not know where he stood if he didn’t try to connect with the ball.
Often times, we have these disappointing realities because we miss the point about what living our live is supposed to be like… to be ourselves, the persons we were meant to be. You should be you and I should be me.
I mean, who doesn’t want to be recognized by others, to be popular, to shine? To some degree, we all yearn for that “pat on the back” to come our way. Yet, even with all the efforts and sweat we channel to get down the road leading to this, well…sorry to say… recognition by others just might not happen today.
We have all heard the saying, “You can’t please everyone, so you’ve got to please yourself?” There is some truth to this. At the end of the day, you may not have reached the stars, won the lottery, or seen your name in print. But the bottom line is, that in the end, the important result of your day should be that YOU are satisfied with what all that you have done to build on the person you are…YOU! Because you are the Most Valuable Player!

Does it ever feel to you, that you can never do enough?
No matter which road you chose to walk, life is ever so tough?
I mean just how hard should living life be?
To be the person you were meant to be… “Me?”
We don’t have to be famous, but it would be nice to be recognized,
To have others tell you they appreciate the efforts you make, and how hard you try.
Yet at times it feels as if nothing you do seems to come out right;
And if feels like success comes only to those who pay a big price.
You wake up every day and wonder, if today will be the day,
That everything you do will be great and come out okay.
Then you take a moment to rehash what you have done so far,
And you realize you did not progress as you thought you would, and the reality of this hits you hard.
The moral is, don’t try to be more than what you are meant to be,
Don’t waste your time or efforts to be what you are not, as the results can be very disappointing,
Especially when others fail to see what you have done,
And you realize that you did not please anyone.
So be yourself, and do not put on “airs,”
People are just busy these days, but it doesn’t mean they don’t care.
Aim to reach goals that will give you satisfaction, because really what it boils down to is this;
You may never be recognized by others, this is just the way life is.

The Fifteen Houses, a Novel
The Fifteen Houses is the first book of this new and exciting series to be published. Staged in the beautiful and scenic palate of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, in the early 1950’s, the main character delves into her reoccurring and discomforting memories of her younger, formative years. Searching for answers to questions that have resurfaced in her mind over and over again during her time away from her family, she seeks to find rhyme and reasons to her insecurities, anger, phobias, fears, and life’s choices. Julianne Marguerite, one of eleven children, is determined to uncover the “mystery” that resulted in the downfall of her family. As you turn the pages in the book, each series of memories, will open a different door, to the different homes, (“Fifteen” to be exact).
