Protesters Block I-84 in Danbury, Call for Justice for George Floyd

Protestors blocked both sides of Interstate 84 in Danbury today for about 30 minutes, in response to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Numerous police vehicles were on the scene.

Approximately 2,000 people attended the protest that began in front of the Danbury Library and continued to City Hall, then on to the Danbury Police Station, eventually leading to Interstate 84 and stopping traffic.

Some of the signs read “Black Lives Matter,” “Respect Existence or Expect Resistance,” “Don’t Shoot, How many More,” and more.

East and Westbound I-84 between exits 4 and 5 in Danbury are now open, reports CT State Police.

There were several more protests across the state, in Hartford, New Haven and Bridgeport in the past week, blocking traffic for this same cause.
