Bethel Planning & Zoning Commission Approved Extension of Medical Marijuana Moratorium to Sept. 10, 2016
At the March 8, 2016 Tuesday night Bethel Planning & Zoning Commission (P&Z) meeting a decision was made to approve the Extension of the Medical Marijuana Moratorium, previously to expire on March 10, 2016, and now extended to September 10, 2016.
The Bethel P&Z originally had a meeting on March 10, 2015 and voted to approve the proposed amendment to the Zoning Regulations regarding Section 4.4, Uses Subject to Moratorium. At that time the Bethel P&Z voted unanimously to approve a Bethel Zoning Amendment for a One-Year Moratorium on Applications for Medical Marijuana Dispensaries, Growing Facilities involving the full scale of cultivation seed to sale, and Retail Recreational Establishments. The moratorium was in effect from March 11, 2015.
Having access to a local dispensary has been very beneficial for many patients who require the drug for medical purposes. Some of them have turned to an online dispensary canada before, and may do so again if the extension approval eventually falls through.
The Bethel P&Z had one year to work on the final regulations but now decided to extend the moratorium. They will take public comments and correspondence but the Bethel P&Z will have the final vote when the moratorium expires in 2016. In the meantime, many people are looking to mail order marijuana for their medical needs.
