Hundreds Attend Ingersoll Auto ‘Drive for Students” Fundraiser for Bethel High School on Oct. 9
The rain held off and it was a beautiful day to test drive automobiles at the “Drive for Students” Fundraiser for Bethel High School (BHS), presented by Ingersoll Auto, held on October 9. 2015 from 9:oo a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at BHS. Ingersoll Auto donated $20.00 for every test drive taken, potentially allowing BHS to earn up to $10,000 for the cause.
The BHS auditorium needs updates and this event will help that cause. There was no cost to anyone doing the test drive, just a few minutes of their time to test drive a car (21 and older, two drivers per household). Babysitting was available. Many Bethel High School volunteers were there to help make the event a success. Rita’s of Bethel and Green Grunion were there too, for individuals to purchase something delicious for lunch or a snack.

Jennifer Gilbertie, who handles Community Relations for Ingersoll Auto, said the fund raising final tally won’t be available until the test-drive forms are verified. The rough estimate is that 330 test drives were done! Good work Bethel!
Seventeen cars were on hand to choose from including Buick and GMC sedans, SUV’s and a pick-up truck. Cars available to test drive were some 2015 and some 2016 cars. Buick: 3 Encore All Wheel Drive (AWD), 3 Enclave, Verano, Regal and LaCrosse; GMC Terrain, Acadia Denali AWD, Acadia Denali AWD SLT-1, Terrain AWD SLT-1, Sierra Denali 1500 4WD Crew Cab, and Yukon XL Denali AWD.
Bethel Middle School Social Studies teacher Debbie Tierney drove the Buick Enclave and said, “The car was very comfortable, the ride was very smooth, and it had many features,many options.”
Eighth grade English Arts teacher Julia Taborsak also drove the Buick Encore and said, “I liked it. I really liked the rear camera for backing up. It was a good size, you could see everything around you. It was a smooth ride.”
After her test drive, Bethel resident Teresa Fogel said, “I drove the Denali pick-up truck, the big one with all the bells and whistles, it was absolutely wonderful, smooth as silk.” She said, “I liked the ride the best, for a pick-up truck.”
