Orlando Bicyclist Killed in Shooting; 15-year-old Suspect Turns Himself In and Charged as Adult

Orlando, FL — A 15-year-old boy in Orlando, Florida, has been charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a minor after allegedly shooting a bicyclist in the head in September, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Tommy Lagree Jr., who has been charged as an adult, turned himself in to authorities shortly after the shooting. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 1, 2025.

Shooting Incident Details

The incident occurred on September 26, around 6 p.m., in the 4900 block of Keith Place. According to an arrest affidavit, Lagree and at least two others were inside a parked van smoking marijuana when Lagree reportedly produced a Taurus 9mm handgun from his waistband.

At that time, 17-year-old Jahriel Huertas was riding a bicycle near the van. Lagree allegedly fired a shot that struck Huertas in the head, after which all individuals in the van fled the scene.

Response from Law Enforcement

Deputies arriving at the scene found Huertas lying on the roadway on his bicycle, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses reported seeing multiple individuals running from the van. A law enforcement helicopter tracked some of the suspects to a nearby residence, where deputies detained at least two individuals connected to the shooting.

Suspect Turns Himself In

Shortly after the shooting, Lagree arrived with his attorney, admitting to deputies that he had shot someone and voluntarily turned himself in. Authorities also seized the firearm used in the incident.

Two of the individuals who were with Lagree in the van identified him as the shooter, according to the charging documents. Investigators have not yet disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.

Legal Proceedings and Charges

Lagree is being charged as an adult, despite being 15 years old, due to the severity of the crime. He faces second-degree murder and firearm possession charges, which carry significant potential penalties if convicted.

Authorities emphasize that this case remains under investigation as law enforcement continues to gather evidence and witness statements.
