Durham, NC – A fatal head-on crash on Interstate 885 left one person dead and three others injured Saturday night, authorities said.
Crash Details
The crash occurred around 11 p.m. near Exit 13 for Interstate 85, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (SHP).
As per WRAL, officials reported that one of the vehicles was traveling the wrong way on the ramp. This resulted in a head-on collision with another car.
- Each vehicle had a driver and a passenger.
- One person died at the scene, while the remaining occupants sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Road Closure
The crash caused a temporary closure of I-885, disrupting traffic for several hours. Authorities reopened the road by 3:30 a.m..
