Seminole, Oklahoma – Authorities in Oklahoma have arrested 37-year-old Tamara Lachelle Wood in connection with the death of her husband, Justin Wood (40), following a high-speed crash on September 27.
The Seminole Lighthorse Police Department responded around 3:30 p.m. to a two-vehicle accident on the 12000 block of Highway 59, where they found Justin Wood ejected from his overturned 2005 BMW SUV and pronounced dead at the scene.
Alleged Road Rage Over Infidelity
According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, the incident stemmed from a personal dispute. Tamara Wood allegedly followed her husband after an argument at their son’s basketball game, upset that he had been communicating with another woman. Investigators report that both vehicles were traveling at extremely high speeds, with estimates ranging from 90 to 100 mph, just before the crash occurred.
Witnesses described Tamara Wood tailing her husband’s vehicle, leading to the collision. Troopers noted that Justin Wood’s mother heard her son call in distress moments before the crash:
“Momma, she’s trying to run me off the road!” he reportedly said, followed by the sound of metal scraping and the crash itself.
Investigation Reveals Family Context
Justin and Tamara Wood had four children together but had been separated, with Justin reportedly considering filing for divorce. Two of their children confirmed that their mother was upset about their father exchanging text messages with another woman.
Witnesses also noted that Tamara Wood had caused a scene at the gym, prompting Justin to leave in his SUV, with Tamara following closely behind, police said.
Charges and Arrest
Tamara Wood is now facing second-degree murder and reckless driving charges. The District 22 District Attorney’s Office issued the arrest warrant on Friday, and she was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, according to local reports.
“We’re going to hold her responsible for her actions that resulted in the death of her husband,” said District Attorney Erik Johnson, emphasizing the severity of the incident.
Family Devastated
“He’s the best dad that I could ever ask for. He’s the reason I am the way I am and the reason I play sports and love basketball,” said Wyatt Wood, 13, reflecting the deep personal loss caused by this tragedy.
The crash has left the family reeling. Their children now face life without their father while their mother confronts serious legal consequences.
