Pittsburgh, PA – A disturbing case has unfolded across state lines after an Ohio mother was arrested in Pennsylvania, accused of kidnapping and torturing her 7-year-old son while allegedly posting videos of the abuse online.
Arrest of Suspect
Authorities identified the suspect as Tiarika Baymon, 32, who was taken into custody after an Amber Alert was issued from Brunswick, Ohio, near Cleveland.
According to Ross Township Police Deputy Chief Brian Kohlhepp, law enforcement considered the boy to be in life-threatening danger.
Discovery in Ross Township
Investigators used tracking information to locate Baymon in the Ross Township area near William Street.
- She was found asleep in a car with a loaded gun on her lap.
- The 7-year-old boy was discovered in the back seat, visibly distressed, dehydrated, and sweating.
- Officers forcibly removed Baymon from the vehicle, during which the firearm fell onto the ground.
- Authorities confirmed that Baymon was not injured during the arrest.
Abuse Allegations
According to court documents as reviews by Local12, the child told police that:
- His mother had hit him in the face with a glass bottle.
- She restrained him with belts and exercise straps.
- Videos of the abuse had been posted on Instagram.
The boy was immediately transported to the Children’s Hospital for medical evaluation and care.
Ongoing Investigation
The case remains under investigation by Ross Township Police and other authorities. Officials are working to determine how long the abuse had been occurring and whether additional charges will be filed.
