Born on December 26, 1929 in Frederick VA.  Jim grew up in Tampa Florida before moving to Danbury CT. at the age of 19.  He delivered furniture for a local furniture store for a brief time and then became a career driver for Valerie’s Transportation Company.  He retired after 40 plus years of driving 18 wheelers and was a member of the 100 Million Mile Club and Driver of the Month a number of times.

Jim was active in the Bethel United Methodist Church for over 60 years where he worked as head usher and sexton.  Jim had a strong passion for his religion and his church.  He attended church every Sunday since he joined as a member until his health issues prevented him from doing so.  Jim would voluntarily provide lawn care, he painted Mitchell Hall and shoveled around the church without being asked.  Jim especially enjoyed helping seniors, providing support for them in any way they needed.  In fact, he was known as Bethel’s handyman to the seniors and to those who knew him well.

Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jacqueline Palmer Kulp (Jackie), his children Loureen and Edward, Timothy, James Jr. and Kerry, William and Barbara and Susan, his 16 grandchildren Danny, Chris, Sean, Bryan, Michael, James III, Danielle, Katelynn, William Jr., Andrew, Angela, Tracy, Mark II, Jessica and 5 great grandchildren, Valery, Lucas, James IV, Logan, Riley and Mark III.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Laura.
