Obituary: Christopher Pante, Popular Host of Comcast’s ‘Chris Pante Show’ Passed Away at Age 58

Christopher Pante, popular host of the “Chris Pante Show,” died on February 6, 2022 “at Danbury Hospital after a short illness,” read an announcement by Michael Kaufman on Pante’s Facebook page. The Chris Pante Show was on Comcast, Public Access Studios, Channel 23 in Danbury and the live broadcasts could also be viewed online.

Pante was self-described as “TV/Radio Talk Show Host, Sports Statistician, Stand-Up Comic, Trumpian, and Advancer of God’s Kingdom.”

A fundraiser for the “Christopher G. Pante Scholarship at DHS (Danbury High School)” has been organized by Michael Kaufman on GoFundMe, that has raised $7,175 of $25,000 in the last ten hours. The fundraiser reads: “In honor of Chris’s life, his fervent love of sports, his love of Danbury High School, we are establishing a memorial scholarship fund in Chris’s name at Danbury High School to give a deserving graduating senior an annual scholarship award for use toward education after graduating. Some of the criteria for selecting a senior each year will be an interest in sports communication, a big heart, an interest in sports and community. This is intended to honor Chris’s memory for years to come by helping a student each year. Thanks.”

FEBRUARY 12, 1963 – FEBRUARY 6, 2022

Christopher G. Pante, age 58, of Danbury, Connecticut passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022.

Christopher was born February 12, 1963 in Richmond Hill, NY, the son of Louis and Mary V.(Garretto) Pante.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday February 19th in Saint Joseph Church, Danbury.

The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Friday, February 18th, from 4pm to 7 pm.

FEBRUARY 12, 1963 – FEBRUARY 6, 2022

Christopher Garrett Panté, 58, entered the gates of heaven on Sunday February 6, 2022 with blessings from his loving family and friends. He is survived by his beloved parents, Louis Panté and Mary Panté of Danbury, CT; a brother, Richard Panté (and Jane), of Maine; two sisters, Linda Panté Ross, of Croton-on-Hudson NY; Maria Panté of Danbury CT; he was pre-deceased by a brother, Louis Panté. Chris is further survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, Richard Panté, Jr. (and Autumn), Josiah Panté, Joyce Panté, great nephew, Donovan Panté, nephew, Christopher Weeks and niece, Dominique Ross. Chris was christened at Holy Child Church in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York and attended mass at St. Joseph Church, in Danbury, regularly throughout his life.

Chris was born on February 12, 1963 in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York. He attended Mill Ridge Elementary, Rogers Park Junior High and Danbury High School, where he played boys varsity basketball and was a sportswriter for the school newspaper The Megaphone.

Chris attended the University of Connecticut where he studied communications and graduated in 1985. He worked first for ESPN in Bristol before working at a variety of sports occupations, including the NHL, YES network, MLB and two Olympics broadcasts. Chris enjoyed being a statistician for the New York Knicks where he assisted Walt “Clyde” Frazier during the broadcasts. Chris was a statistician for a variety of other college and professional athletic contests.

Chris was a fervent sports fan, passionately and faithfully following the Mets, Jets, Knicks, Rangers and UConn Huskies. He orchestrated years of planned trips to Chicago with friends to visit historic Wrigley Field and watch the Cubs play while also taking in the best of windy city culture.

Chris also hosted his own radio and local cable talk shows which featured a variety of guests and topics over many years. For years, Chris dabbled in the world of stand-up comedy, where he bravely regaled audiences (including many supportive friends) in New York City and Connecticut with his humorous observations about life. Chris brought joy to many and always enjoyed a good laugh. He was also a masterful storyteller with an uncanny ability to recall the smallest detail of an event or occurrence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Main Street in Danbury at 10:00 a.m. on February 19, 2022. Calling hours will be at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street in Danbury from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on February 18, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chris’s name to the “Christopher G. Panté Memorial Scholarship Fund” at Danbury High School.
