Today New York Governor Cuomo delivered his farewell address before officially resigning. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo “has no interest in running for office again,” reports CNBC.
Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) will replace Cuomo and become New York’s first female governor, said Gov. Cuomo in his speech.
Cuomo’s resignation came after a report was issued by the state Attorney General’s office that reported he had sexually harassed at least 11 current and former staffers, including a state police trooper, and other women outside of government.
Previously Gov. Cuomo was under fire for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis when he agreed to allow infected patients to be released early and sent to nursing homes to recover, in order to free up hospital beds. As new numbers of actual COVID-19 patients were released, “the Cuomo administration was forced to admit it was underreporting the overall number of COVID-19 deaths among long-term care residents,” reports NBC.
