The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST MONDAY.
* WHAT…Moderate to heavy wet snow along with some sleet and freezing rain especially towards the southern coasts. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches expected. Total ice accumulations of a glaze.
* WHERE…Northeastern New Jersey, Southwest and Coastal Connecticut, the Lower Hudson Valley, and New York City.
* WHEN…Until 7 AM EST Monday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact those traveling tonight, and the Monday morning commute. Heaviest snow expected mid to late this evening into overnight.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

NOW… Precipitation will continue to overspread the region this evening. Light snow will be the most likely precipitation type, but some rain could mix in at the onset. Temperatures are still in the upper 30s, so no accumulation is expected initially. However, as the snow intensity increases after 7 pm, temperatures will drop to near freezing and snow will begin to accumulate.
