The National Weather Forecast has a FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON.
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.
A rapidly developing low pressure system south of Long Island is expected to produce heavy rainfall across the region. Rainfall totals of 2 to 5 inches with locally higher amounts are possible. Rainfall rates may exceed one inch per hour at times. The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur through early this afternoon. Heavy rain may produce areas of flash flooding.
Flash Flood Watch in effect for entire area Today.
–2 to 5”, with locally 5 to 6” of rain for portions of the region.
–Locally moderate urban and poor drainage flash flooding possible.
–Minor to moderate small river and stream flooding likely.
–Strong winds across coastal portions of the region Today into Wednesday.
–Minor coastal flooding, with a few pockets of Moderate coastal flooding possible during times of high tide today.
–Gale to Storm conditions on the nearshore waters today into Wednesday.

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Flood Advisory for… Fairfield County in southern Connecticut… New Haven County in southern Connecticut… East Central Orange County in southeastern New York… Putnam County in southeastern New York… Rockland County in southeastern New York… Westchester County in southeastern New York… Until 545 PM EDT.
At 336 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen.
Some locations that will experience flooding include… Bridgeport, New Haven, Stamford, Waterbury, Norwalk, Danbury, Meriden, White Plains, Milford, Middletown, Wallingford, Shelton, Naugatuck, Port Chester, Newburgh, Ossining, Peekskill, Guilford, Southbury and New Canaan.
Additional rainfall amounts of a half inch to 1.50 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
