The eighth annual Walk of Honor, will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 12:00PM to pay tribute to the country’s veterans – both past and present. It will be held at the Danbury War Memorial on Memorial Drive in Danbury. For the fourth year in a row, we will honor a local veteran with the Walk of Honor Warrior Award. We are asking Danbury residents and the surrounding areas to nominate a veteran, who has served in a combat zone and who also exemplifies the values of courage, integrity, devotion to duty, loyalty, respect, selfless service and honor.

Nominate a Veteran for “Walk of Honor Warrior Award;” The 8th Annual “Walk of Honor” Event Pays Tribute to Veterans, Oct. 18
The eighth annual Walk of Honor, will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 12:00PM to pay tribute to the country’s veterans – both past and present. It will be held at the Danbury War Memorial on Memorial Drive in Danbury. The one-mile walk will loop around South Street, Coalpit Hill Road, Lions Way and Memorial Drive.
The nominations should be no longer than five hundred words and should include the nominee’s name and military rank along with the name and contact information of the person submitting the nomination.
All nominations must be emailed to email@example.com and received by September 23, 2015 for consideration.
“This year the Walk of Honor is paying tribute to the World War II veterans. It is only fitting with the 70th anniversary and with how rapidly we are losing our WWII veterans, that we let them know how much we appreciate them,” said Mary Teicholz, organizer and founder of the event.
Mayor Mark Boughton said, “It is an honor to have the Walk of Honor in our community again for the eighth year in a row. Too often we forget the sacrifices that so many have made for our rights and freedom and this event gives us the rare opportunity to come together to thank them.”
In conjunction with the Walk of Honor, there will also be a small dedication for the additional brick sales and the recently installed granite pillars for the Veterans Walkway of Honor. All families are encouraged to join us for the ceremony and walk (rain or shine) to show pride in our country and our servicemen and women. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved inside the War Memorial building.
