Orlando, FL – A multi-vehicle crash in Orange County left nine juveniles injured Thursday night, authorities said. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that emergency responders rushed to the scene in the Richmond Heights neighborhood after the serious collision.
Crash Details
The crash occurred at Raleigh Street and Ivy Lane, involving a Nissan Altima and an Alfa Romeo. According to neighbors, the red Alfa Romeo struck the Nissan from behind, causing the Nissan to run off the road and crash into a tree.
“So it was about eight kids, nine kids in a car. Someone passed away. An adult was there as well, yes adult she was in the car, they had to pry the car open and pull her out, cause we live right there in the house where it happened,” a witness said to WESH.
Emergency Response
Several fire rescue agencies responded to the scene to assist the injured. The children were transported to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children with severe injuries.
As of Friday, hospital officials announced that four children have been discharged, while five additional children and one adult remain hospitalized.
Community Reaction
Neighbors described the crash as heartbreaking, sharing their concern for the families involved. One neighbor stated:
“It’s heartbreaking, and I pray that the family is OK. I stayed all the way until they took the babies cause the one baby I had, the one baby to try to keep her alive, keep her awake, I mean, that’s tragic, it’s sad.”
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the collision.
