Franklin, NJ — A 38-year-old New Jersey mother, Pamela Janiszak, has been arrested following the discovery of her five-month-old daughter in a Somerset County hotel room with a fractured skull and other serious injuries.
The infant, who was found in critical condition, was discovered on September 6 in a hotel room on Cedar Grove Lane in Franklin. Police arrived at 12:25 p.m. and found Janiszak unconscious on a bed, with her baby described as “lethargic” and suffering from apparent trauma.
A Heartbreaking Discovery
The infant was found with multiple skull fractures, head swelling, and intracranial hemorrhages, officials said. The extent of the child’s injuries prompted an immediate response from law enforcement and medical professionals.
“The child was found with injuries that were consistent with severe trauma,” a spokesperson for the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said.
An update on the girl’s condition was not immediately available, as authorities did not release further details regarding her prognosis.
Arrest and Charges
Janiszak, a Somerset resident, was treated and later released from a nearby hospital. She was arrested in Toms River on September 16 and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
The hotel in which the incident took place has not been publicly named, and no attorney was listed for Janiszak in court records at the time of writing.
Investigations Continue
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading to the child’s injuries, but details surrounding the incident remain scarce.
