Creedmoor, NC – A routine speeding stop on Interstate 85 turned into a felony drug bust last week when Granville County Sheriff Robert Fountain discovered marijuana in a vehicle north of Creedmoor.

The incident occurred on Tuesday around 6:30 a.m. along southbound I-85 near mile marker 193 and Brogden Road, roughly two miles north of Creedmoor, according to a Granville County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Search and Arrest
Deputies conducted a search of the Audi and reportedly found 43.56 grams of marijuana along with $2,899 in cash. The driver was taken into custody and charged with felony possession of marijuana.
In addition to the drug charge, the driver was cited for traveling above the posted speed limit and driving without a valid license in possession.
Ongoing Investigation
The Granville County Sheriff’s Office stated that this is an ongoing investigation, and further details will be released once the inquiry is complete. The swift actions of Sheriff Fountain and deputies highlight the importance of traffic stops in uncovering illegal activity on highways.
