In the scandal involving under-inflated footballs used in the AFC championship game against Indianapolis, a Patriots locker-room attendant is now the focus of the NFL investigation. This person has already been interviewed and the NFL is trying to determine if he played any part in any improper behavior regarding this event. There is surveillance video that shows the attendant taking the footballs from the official’s locker room into another room at Gillette Stadium before bringing them out to the field, sources told FOX Sports.
“Both New England head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady both have proclaimed innocence and said they were unaware how the footballs became under-inflated,” Fox Sports reports.
Under-inflated footballs can be easier to grip and throw and thus provides a distinct advantage in games.
Eleven of the twelve footballs that were under-inflated as per the league-mandated air pressure of 12.5 PSI, were confiscated by the NFL.
The league has since launched an investigation into the matter, Fox Sports reports.
