The Background Check Expansion Act will be the first bill Senator Murphy introduces in the 116^th Congress

**Monday, January 7^th**

HARTFORD — U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) will hold a press conference in Hartford with gun violence prevention advocates to unveil legislation to strengthen federal background checks. Murphy’s Background Check Expansion Act, co-sponsored by Blumenthal, will be the first bill he introduces in the 116^th Congress.
