Muncie, IN — A 37-year-old Muncie man is facing several criminal charges after authorities say he crashed his vehicle into a tractor while allegedly under the influence of cocaine. Officials confirmed that the collision left multiple people seriously injured and resulted in a series of felony and misdemeanor counts.
The driver, identified as Sean Craver, is accused of causing the crash that took place on July 29 and has since been formally charged following toxicology results.
Charges Filed Against the Suspect
According to court records, Craver is now facing four separate charges connected to the incident:
- Causing Serious Bodily Injury While Driving Intoxicated — Level 4 Felony
- Operating While Intoxicated: Previous Conviction — Level 6 Felony
- Operating While Intoxicated: Endangering a Person — Class A Misdemeanor
- Operating While Intoxicated: Controlled Substance — Class C Misdemeanor
These charges were filed after officers determined his blood tested positive for cocaine, allegedly impairing him at the time of the collision.
Crash Occurred Late Morning on South Nebo Road
The crash unfolded at approximately 11:25 a.m. on South Nebo Road, prompting an emergency response by the Yorktown Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found a Chevy Impala that had collided with a tractor, with the force of the impact ejecting the tractor driver from the vehicle. The tractor itself was badly damaged and leaking fluids onto the surrounding grass.
A man — identified as the tractor operator — was found lying on the ground with significant injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Driver and Passenger Also Injured, Police Say
Authorities said that both Craver and a passenger inside the Impala also sustained serious injuries in the crash. Despite this, Craver allegedly refused medical treatment at the scene.
Police noted that the extensive damage to the vehicles and the ejection of the tractor operator indicated the impact was substantial.
Blood Draw Confirms Suspect Tested Positive for Cocaine
According to investigators, Craver voluntarily agreed to a blood draw following the crash. Court documents show the toxicology results revealed the presence of cocaine, a controlled substance known to impair reaction time, judgement, and motor coordination — all factors that can significantly increase crash risk.
Officials did not release additional details about Craver’s prior OWI conviction but noted that the presence of a previous offense elevated one of the charges to a felony.
Investigation Remains Ongoing
The Yorktown Police Department and county prosecutors say the case remains open as they continue reviewing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and assessing the long-term injuries suffered by the victims.
Authorities indicated that more information may be released as the investigation progresses.
Community Concerns Around OWI Crashes Growing
The incident has reignited conversations about impaired driving in Delaware County, where law enforcement agencies have repeatedly warned about rising OWI cases involving both alcohol and controlled substances.
Local officials continue to emphasize the dangers of drug-impaired driving, pointing out that narcotics like cocaine can be just as deadly as alcohol when it comes to decision-making and motor control behind the wheel.
