Memphis, TN — Federal prosecutors have charged 15 individuals connected to a multi-state drug trafficking operation in Memphis, according to U.S. Attorney Michael Dunavant for the Western District of Tennessee. Fourteen defendants were arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 3, while one remains at large.
The defendants, whose ages range from 28 to 52, include residents from Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas, and the People’s Republic of China. Some are known by street aliases, including “BG,” “Papa Smurf,” “June Bug,” “Twin,” and “Car Wash.”

Operation “Been Getting Bags” Uncovers Massive Evidence
According to federal officials, the criminal activity began as early as June 2024 and continued through November 2025. The investigation, dubbed “Been Getting Bags,” uncovered hundreds of pounds of illegal drugs, 50 firearms, and approximately $550,000 in cash.
Several defendants are also facing money laundering charges, highlighting the financial operations supporting the trafficking network.
Potential Sentences for Defendants
The charges carry mandatory minimum sentences of 10 years in federal prison for controlled substance conspiracy, with fines up to $10 million. Convictions for money laundering conspiracy could result in up to 20 years in federal prison.
Officials emphasized the severity of the operation, noting the multi-agency cooperation that helped bring the defendants to justice. The investigation involved a combination of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, working together to dismantle a dangerous network affecting multiple states.
