Motorcyclist Dies on Ventura Freeway after Losing Control and Subsequent Crash

VENTURA, Calif. – A tragic motorcycle crash claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman from Camarillo on Saturday evening, after she lost control of her motorcycle on the northbound 101 Freeway and was struck by multiple vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Crash Details

The accident occurred just before 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, north of the State Route 126 interchange. The Ventura Communication Center received multiple reports of a motorcycle crash where the rider had gone down and was subsequently struck by other vehicles, the CHP said.

According to the preliminary investigation, the motorcyclist was riding a black Yamaha when she lost control and crashed, ejecting her onto the northbound lanes of the freeway as per KTLA.

Vehicles Involved

Immediately after the crash, the motorcycle was run over by a Chevy Silverado driven by a 40-year-old Santa Barbara resident. A silver Nissan Sentra also struck the motorcycle debris and the motorcyclist.

The young woman sustained major injuries and was transported to Ventura County Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The CHP has not yet determined what caused the motorcyclist to lose control. Her name has not been released.

Road Closures and Investigation

Part of the northbound 101 Freeway north of State Route 126 was closed for approximately one hour to allow authorities to clear the scene and conduct a preliminary investigation.
