Man Arrested after Violent Bar Attack in Muncie; Multiple Victims Injured

Muncie, IN — A violent altercation at a local Muncie bar on Tuesday evening left several people injured and a suspect facing multiple felony charges, according to law enforcement officials. The incident occurred at the Red Dog Saloon, located on the 1600 block of W 23rd Street, when officers were called to respond to a report of a man attacking both staff and patrons inside the establishment.

The suspect, identified as Larry Scott, 53, allegedly engaged in aggressive and dangerous behavior that resulted in serious injuries to multiple victims, including reports of a possible broken rib and a collapsed lung.

Suspect’s Actions Escalate Violence

According to court documents, Scott first assaulted an employee from across the bar by punching her. He then reportedly spit on the employee, as well as on another staff member and a guest. Witnesses told police that Scott then armed himself with metal bar stools and chairs, hurling them with “immense force” at the four victims.

The attack reportedly continued until one of the victims fired a shot at Scott, which resulted in the suspect sustaining a gunshot wound. Scott was subsequently located walking from the scene and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Felony Charges Filed

Larry Scott now faces multiple felony charges stemming from the attack:

  • Aggravated Battery, Level 3 Felony (two counts)
  • Battery with Moderate Injury, Armed with a Deadly Weapon, Level 5 Felony (four counts)
  • Battery Involving Bodily Waste, Level 6 Felony (three counts)

Authorities indicated that the combination of weaponized bar stools and chairs, along with the deliberate assault on multiple individuals, contributed to the severity of the charges, as per the reports.

Police Investigation Ongoing

The Muncie Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Officers interviewed witnesses at the scene and reviewed video footage reportedly confirming Scott’s actions. Investigators are examining the extent of injuries sustained by the victims, including reports of serious trauma such as broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

Officials emphasized that the situation remains an active investigation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Community Impact

The attack has raised concerns among local residents and patrons regarding safety in entertainment venues in Muncie. Law enforcement has urged anyone with additional information or video evidence from the bar during the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Officials also noted that despite the extreme violence of the attack, the prompt response from bystanders and law enforcement prevented further escalation and additional injuries.
