Westport, MA — Police in Westport, Massachusetts arrested four men after hotel staff discovered a bag of illegal drugs left in the lobby of the Hampton Inn. The incident occurred on Monday, shortly before 2 p.m., prompting staff to contact police immediately.
According to the Westport Police Department, a hotel guest appeared to have dropped the bag before attempting to leave the area unnoticed. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and began tracking down those involved.
Surveillance Footage Links Suspects to the Dropped Drugs
The lobby video revealed four men returning to the area, looking through trash bins and frantically searching the lobby in an effort to locate the dropped item. Police said the group occupied two rooms at the hotel, and staff directed officers to one of them during the investigation.
Inside, officers found clothing matching the outfit worn by the person seen dropping the drugs. When questioned at the scene, none of the men provided clear answers to officers’ questions. They only claimed they were searching for a lost phone.
Officers Identify Four Men, Arrests Follow
Police identified the individuals as:
- Alexander Rebelo — East Providence
- Andrew Massey — Middletown
- Robert Noble — Fall River
- John Taylor III — Westport
Officers confirmed that Rebelo, Massey, and Noble all had active arrest warrants. Police also reported statements indicating Taylor had been involved in drug sales to one of the men, as reported.
Medical Complaints Lead to More Drugs Found
While being transported for booking, Noble and Taylor claimed they were experiencing medical issues and were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. There, officers discovered more illegal drugs hidden with Taylor, including:
- 37 grams of methamphetamine
- 3 Suboxone strips
- 10 unidentified pills
During the booking process at the police station, Rebelo was found carrying an additional 8 grams of methamphetamine.

Police released the following charging information:

• Possession of drugs
• Conspiracy to violate drug law
• Receiving stolen property
He was released on personal recognizance.
Andrew Massey
- Held on outstanding warrant.
Robert Noble
- Held on outstanding warrant.
John Taylor III
• Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine
• Drug trafficking
• Possession of drugs
• Conspiracy to violate drug law
He was held on $25,000 bail.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, and more charges may be added after testing the substances recovered.
