Lincoln Man Charged after Camera Allegedly Captures Late-Night Assaults on 12-Year-Old, Court Records Show

Lincoln, NB – A Lincoln man, Marcos Rivera, 43, appeared in Lancaster County Court on Wednesday following accusations that he repeatedly groped a 12-year-old girl.

Rivera faces the following charges:

  • Third-degree sexual assault of a child
  • Intentional child abuse resulting in no injury

A judge set his bond at 10% of $200,000.

Investigation Sparked by Suspicious Behavior

The case came to light after a woman reported Rivera to the Lincoln Police Department on October 7, 2024. Rivera had been living in her apartment at the time. She became suspicious after noticing that he frequently entered the bedroom shared by her children during the night.

To document the activity, the woman set up a motion-activated digital camera in the children’s bedroom. Court documents reveal that the footage showed Rivera entering the room in boxer shorts and reaching into the 12-year-old girl’s bed.

Authorities say a second clip provided by the woman showed Rivera entering the room on another night. In that instance, he approached the camera and turned it away, preventing the children’s beds from being recorded.

Victim Interview and Forensic Examination

The 12-year-old girl was taken to the BraveBe Child Advocacy Center for a forensic interview the day after the report was filed. During the interview, she reportedly disclosed that Rivera had sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions at night, providing critical evidence for law enforcement and prosecutors.

Next Court Appearance Scheduled

Rivera is scheduled to appear in court again on January 28, 2026, as the case continues to move through the legal system. Authorities say the investigation remains active and are working to ensure the safety and well-being of the victim and her family.
