Letter to the Editor from Bill Hillman, Addressing First Selectman Knickerbocker About Bethel Charter Revision Commission
This Letter to the Editor was sent to Bethel Advocate today from resident Bill Hillman, and is addressed to Bethel First Selectman Matthew Knickerbocker. It reads as follows:
Mr. Knickerbocker,
The BRTC will make recommendations for the Charter Revision Commission, with an expectation that the present Democratic majority on the Board of Selectmen will not make the overt political move of disregarding the good people we recommend in favor of your hand-picked by 2 democrat “acceptable republicans”.
Per your Newstimes article “The town aims to interview and select the commission members by June. This is the first time the town has interviewed candidates. In the past, Republicans and Democrats have recommended members for the Board of Selectmen to appoint. But Knickerbocker said the selectmen wanted to ensure the commission is objective.”
In other words, you want no opposition to your goals, and that is unacceptable! The BRTC, under my term has provided excellent recommendations for vacancies, and I expect that to continue. The 3376 Republican electors, as of last week deserve the town to not disregard its RTC recommendations for this commission.
Bill Hillman
BRTC Chair
