Williams, IA – A 49-year-old woman from Hamilton County is behind bars after what began as a standard traffic stop quickly escalated into a major drug and theft arrest, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
Traffic Stop Raises Red Flags
The incident started on Friday when a deputy patrolling along 220th Street in Williams ran a license plate on a vehicle that did not match the registered information. The driver, identified as Robbie Lyn Walker, reportedly told the deputy she had no knowledge of any issue with the plate.
However, after contacting the plate’s rightful owner, authorities learned Walker did not have permission to use it. This prompted deputies to continue their investigation and reconnect with Walker at her motorhome shortly afterward.
K9 Search Uncovers Possible Drug Operation
With the assistance of a K9 unit, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and the exterior of the RV. The K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics, giving deputies probable cause to expand the search.
Inside the motorhome, law enforcement located:
- A marijuana smoking pipe
- Multiple illegal narcotics
- Drug distribution materials described as items consistent with selling controlled substances
Authorities say the findings strongly suggested active drug trafficking behavior.
Phone Search Reveals Evidence of Drug Sales
A search warrant was later issued for a cellphone seized during the investigation. According to HCSO, the device contained messages and transactions that appeared to show multiple individuals buying and selling illegal drugs with Walker.
Investigators also reported to a local news outlet that Walker admitted to conducting drug sales in the area.
Arrest and Charges
On Sunday, deputies attempted to take Walker into custody at her motorhome. She was seen leaving the property, leading to another traffic stop that resulted in her arrest.
Walker has been formally charged with:
- Ongoing Criminal Conduct
- Possession with Intent to Deliver – Methamphetamine
- Possession with Intent to Deliver – Psilocybin Mushrooms
- Possession with Intent to Deliver – Marijuana
- Driving While Barred
- Driving with Suspended License
- Operating a Non-Registered Vehicle
- Failure to Provide Security Against Liability
- Theft in the 5th Degree
She was booked into the Hamilton County Jail, where she remains held on a $48,200 criminal bond.
Community Impact and Ongoing Investigation
The Sheriff’s Office has emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, as authorities work to identify others who may be connected to the alleged trafficking activity.
Williams and surrounding Hamilton County communities have seen increased patrol enforcement recently amid concerns over the distribution of methamphetamine and other controlled substances. Officials say this arrest is part of their continued effort to curb local drug networks before they expand further.
