A Tribute to Doctors and Nurses Worldwide!
How often do we think of all the professional people around us who try to make our lives easier as they help us by sharing their skills with us? Many times we take such ones for granted…after all…they do get wages for their performance. But, I will tell you, never is money enough thank you for the contribution these people make. Is “Thank You” ever enough
Of such professions, I was blessed to have the services of the many doctors and nurses lately as they tried to help me find answers to my health problems and for their hand in providing me with the procedure needed to address such issues I am dealing with at this time in my life.
Rarely do we see the behind the scene actions of a doctor or nurse as many times we are hidden in a hall way out of the sight of a main nurses station at a hospital and we miss what really goes on out of our eye sight.
As I sat in my recliner…behind a curtain, I had the opportunity to witness what we miss behind closed doors. After the nurse introduced herself to me, set me up and then started my procedure her work did not end there. Often she came by to see if there was anything I needed, or if I may have been experiencing any discomfort. And when she was busy providing her care to another patient, other nurses and staff dropped by to inquire the same or acknowledge my presence and offering their smiles…all letting me know I was not forgotten…not just a “number.” Even my doctor took the time to make sure
I was okay. All these services we take for granted…priceless.
I did not witness any of the team at the nurse’s station idle for long. There were records to get, orders to receive and administer, phone calls to doctors and others hospital personnel to assure as patients we get what we need and when we need it. Rarely did they take five minutes just to sit and take a time out to re-energize their batteries.
No amount of money in a paycheck, no thank you at the end of the procedure really cover the gratitude and respect we should offer to the doctors and nurses that aim to help us get back on a road to recovery so that we can live our lives to the fullest with whatever illnesses we deal with. It just doesn’t seem enough to me. Not really.

Doctors and nurses were nice
Despite
the fact that a good patient I am not and in
treating me…like it or not,
They gave me their best shot.
I don’t like needles and having to take meds
And I would much rather be home in my bed
But then I wouldn’t get what I needed to get well
And I would not have an automated machine by my bed that lights up and I wouldn’t have a personal “call” bell.
They brought me my food on a tray
And I must say
Hospital food is not all it is cracked up to be
But it was food…and I being hungry was delighted to eat.
Hours later with my treatment complete
I could now leave
I was happy
The doctors and nurses… most likely too were relieved!
A smile goodbye
A relieving sigh
A nod of the head
A thank you, a smile…we all made it through the day….AMEN!
