Today we have another wonderful written piece from Jeanne Claire Probst, in our continuing literary series. We are thrilled to have author/poet/blogger Jeanne Claire Probst join Bethel Advocate as a contributor, sharing her “Thought and Poem” written works with us. Her work covers many topics. She is excited to be fulfilling a life-long dream of writing a novel of which “The Fifteen Houses, a Novel” is her first published work. I think you will enjoy! THOUGHT AND POEM

I don’t like mornings and I have never been one to jump out of bed to greet the day. Some people just need that “Folgers in My Cup” caffeine jump-start to bribe them into thinking this is all they need to start their days. Not me.
I am one of those who will stand by my kitchen windows while waiting for the water to boil for my coffee to see what the weather is like outside and then I decide if I want to stay up or go back to bed.
There have been a few mornings of late where deer have been showing themselves again the fields after being absent during the long winter months that have just past, and this will brighten my tired eyes more than any cup of coffee would. It also instills confidence in me that SPRING has truly arrived to stay!
It is nice to be on the watch for new life that is born during the winter months. Babies have a way of stimulating us as their energy infuses us. It helps to bubble forth what is left of our own youthful desires that have not yet been stamped out by the cold winter or by aging.
A mother was out there with two little ones today. As I watched the fawns running around I began thinking how nice it would be to have a cupful of some of their energy or to be out there with the deer as this might motivated me to want to jump out of bed and share in having a lively part of morning.

Our eyes connected….I had seen her and she had seen me.
She was such a pretty sight but stood still
As she gazed a little ways up the small hill
Which made me turn my head
From watching her to wondering what she was gazing at instead.
Then something moved and I could see
Her babies were playing
Enjoying the first signs of spring
The sight was very welcoming.

The Fifteen Houses, a Novel
The Fifteen Houses is the first book of this new and exciting series to be published. Staged in the beautiful and scenic palate of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, in the early 1950’s, the main character delves into her reoccurring and discomforting memories of her younger, formative years. Searching for answers to questions that have resurfaced in her mind over and over again during her time away from her family, she seeks to find rhyme and reasons to her insecurities, anger, phobias, fears, and life’s choices. Julianne Marguerite, one of eleven children, is determined to uncover the “mystery” that resulted in the downfall of her family. As you turn the pages in the book, each series of memories, will open a different door, to the different homes, (“Fifteen” to be exact).
