Harris County, TX — Authorities in Harris County have recovered more than $20,000 worth of stolen truck tailgates after linking a local man to a series of thefts spanning multiple neighborhoods. Investigators with Harris County Constable Precinct 4 said the suspect, Samuel Worthy, 19, was connected to over 20 separate thefts across the county.
Investigation Reveals Suspect and Pattern
The investigation began on December 8, when a Precinct 4 sergeant started examining reports of recurring tailgate thefts. By reviewing surveillance footage and crime scene evidence, deputies identified a clear pattern: an older-model Chevrolet Malibu repeatedly appearing near the theft locations.
Authorities eventually traced the vehicle to Worthy, a Houston-area resident already serving felony probation for prior tailgate thefts. This connection prompted a focused search and recovery effort.
Search Leads to Major Recovery
Deputies executed a search warrant at Worthy’s residence in Tomball, recovering eight stolen truck tailgates valued at approximately $20,000. Several of these stolen items have already been returned to their rightful owners.
Authorities noted that Worthy remains wanted for theft aggregate and encouraged anyone with information on his whereabouts or involvement to contact local law enforcement, referencing case HC2512-01064.
Community Alert
Precinct 4 officials are urging residents to remain vigilant, secure their vehicles, and report any suspicious activity immediately. They emphasized that thefts like these, though sometimes perceived as minor, can have significant financial impacts on victims and communities.
“Residents should always lock their vehicles and keep valuable items out of sight,” Constable Mark Herman said. “Prompt reporting of suspicious activity helps deputies identify and stop repeat offenders like Worthy.”
Prior Criminal History
Law enforcement also highlighted Worthy’s previous felony probation related to similar tailgate thefts. Officials say the repeat offenses demonstrate a pattern of criminal behavior, and they are committed to using all available resources to apprehend him and prevent further thefts.
