San Antonio, TX — Authorities in San Antonio arrested a man and a woman following a major drug bust at a downtown hotel, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) confirmed.
Arrests and Charges
Tomas Hernandez Jr., 22, and Yolanda Ramos Ponce, 38, are now in custody and face drug-related charges. The arrests come after the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) tipped off authorities to suspected drug trafficking activity at a hotel on East Houston Street Wednesday night.
Drug Seizure
Deputies quickly served a search warrant at one of the hotel rooms, where they discovered 10 kilograms of methamphetamine mixed with fentanyl. BCSO estimates the street value of the seized drugs to be between $500,000 and $800,000.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said it appears the suspects may have been used to transport the drugs, though investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the operation, as per the reports.
Community Safety
Authorities are reminding residents that drug trafficking poses serious risks to communities, especially when highly potent substances like fentanyl are involved.
