How to Stay Safe in Heat and Thunderstorm Conditions

Hot and humid weather can lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke if proper precautions aren’t taken. Residents are advised to:

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
  • Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day
  • Seek shade or air-conditioned spaces when possible
  • Monitor the forecast for storm alerts and be prepared to move indoors when lightning is nearby

During thunderstorms, avoid open areas, tall trees, and metal objects, and never drive through flooded roads.
