Osteen, Florida – A days-long investigation into the theft of four horses from a rural property in Volusia County has taken a major turn, as authorities announced the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of two of the stolen animals.
The case, which initially prompted a $10,000 reward and widespread public concern, remains partially unresolved as investigators continue searching for the remaining horses.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office first alerted the public over the weekend after confirming that four horses had been stolen from a private property in Osteen, a quiet rural community in Volusia County.
Deputies described the theft as unusual and troubling, noting that the disappearance of large animals suggested planning and coordination. In an effort to generate leads, authorities offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the suspect or suspects responsible.

“Thanks to diligent police work, great use of technology, and a lot of help from our partner agencies, we’re reuniting these horses with their owners, and we have a suspect in custody,” the sheriff’s office stated in a public release.
Officials did not disclose how Guzman was linked to the stolen horses or whether additional suspects may be involved.
ICE Detainer Placed on Suspect
In an additional development, deputies revealed that Guzman is an undocumented immigrant from Cuba.
As a result, authorities confirmed that an ICE detainer has been placed on the suspect, meaning federal immigration officials have been notified and may assume custody following local legal proceedings.
The announcement has added another layer of attention to the case, drawing responses from both law enforcement supporters and immigration advocates.
