Los Angeles, CA — An intense, hour-long police pursuit that began in the Mid-City area on Wednesday afternoon ended dramatically in Reseda, with at least two suspects detained, according to authorities and live aerial footage from SkyFOX.
The chase began around 2:30 p.m., when officers began tracking a suspected stolen vehicle weaving through central Los Angeles. The vehicle, already showing front-bumper damage, sped through neighborhood streets while narrowly avoiding collisions with other drivers.
Suspect Speeds Through Koreatown, Beverly Hills, and Back to Mid-City
SkyFOX cameras followed the suspect as the car shot through Koreatown, where the driver repeatedly ignored traffic signs, veered around moving vehicles, and continued at dangerous speeds on residential and commercial streets.
The vehicle then looped back toward Mid-City, before cutting westward toward Beverly Hills. At multiple points, the suspect drove on the wrong side of the road, forcing oncoming motorists to swerve out of the way to avoid head-on crashes.
Chase Heads Onto 405 Freeway, Then Into the Valley
Around this time, the suspect merged onto the northbound 405 Freeway in the West LA area, accelerating as traffic began to thicken. Despite heavy law enforcement presence, the driver exited the freeway at Burbank Blvd. in Sherman Oaks and continued the pursuit along Sepulveda Blvd.
The chase moved through Van Nuys and deeper into the San Fernando Valley, where officers continued pursuing the high-risk driver as crowds and vehicles grew denser.
Pursuit Ends in Reseda After Vehicle Jumps Curb
The chase finally came to an end at approximately 3:26 p.m. in Reseda, near the intersection of Hesperia Ave. and Vanowen St. The suspect’s vehicle barreled up a curb, stopping just inches from a home’s fence, narrowly avoiding structural damage.
As soon as the car stopped, two individuals jumped out and attempted to flee on foot, as per Fox News.
Foot Pursuit Leads to Fast Arrests
One suspect sprinted into a nearby alleyway and attempted to scale a fence. However, officers quickly pulled up next to the individual, using their squad vehicle to block the escape route, resulting in an immediate arrest.
Another suspect was captured near the stopped vehicle by ground units.
Aerial footage also showed a woman being detained by police at the scene. Her exact involvement in the pursuit has not yet been clarified, and officials have not confirmed whether she will face charges.
Investigation Still Developing
Authorities have not released the names, ages, or specific charges for the suspects involved. Police continue investigating how the suspected stolen vehicle was acquired, who was driving during various segments of the pursuit, and whether additional accomplices may have been involved.
Law enforcement agencies are expected to release further details after reviewing patrol car dashcams, helicopter footage, and statements from officers who participated in the pursuit.
Should Los Angeles adopt stricter policies on high-speed pursuits, or are these chases necessary to stop dangerous suspects?
