Metro Detroit, MI – A carjacking suspect was arrested in Metro Detroit after leading officers on a high-speed chase in a sparking stolen car, with the help of the Michigan State Police (MSP) helicopter unit.
Helicopter Footage Captures Late-Night Pursuit
The Michigan State Police shared aerial video footage of the chase on October 10, 2025, showing Trooper 2, the agency’s helicopter, providing aerial support to ground units. The footage was timestamped October 8, 2025, around 10:30 p.m.
Although MSP did not disclose the suspect’s name or the exact location of the chase, the video showed the suspect’s vehicle sparking as it fled from officers.
Chase Ends with Arrest
In the footage, officers aboard Trooper 2 can be heard directing ground units by informing them when the vehicle slowed down and when the suspect attempted to flee on foot.
At one point, the stolen vehicle came to a stop, and the suspect jumped the median, running across the freeway before trying to climb an overpass. Officers quickly pursued, and the suspect was tased and arrested moments later.
“We continue to see that these suspects do not care who they hurt when they try to get away,” said First Lieutenant Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police. “Great work by officers on the ground and the crew of Trooper 2 as another bad guy goes to jail tired.”
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have not yet released additional details about the suspect or charges, but the case remains under investigation, as per ClickonDetroit.
