A beloved family dog went missing from Shelton, CT, on July 21 and the owner, Jason Petrini, is of course devastated and is stopping at nothing to bring him home, vowing to search for the dog forever.
“I’m not giving up,” Patrini said, “and I will navigate through the unknown until I see that sign, and I am reunited with the king,” … “We made a promise to Louie on that fall day we adopted him as a pup, and I made a promise to all of you. “I will ride this until the end.” I will navigate through the darkest depths , and keep circling every inch of every set of woods and open pastures, for a lifetime if I have to.” (Read full statement below.)
Louie, a 5-year-old male pit mix, who was rescued from a shelter in Bridgeport 5 years ago, “was last seen on Waverly Road in Shelton. Louie slipped from his collar when he was with his pet sitter,” the GoFundMe “Let’s Bring Louie Home!” page reads.
There is a $5,000 reward for his safe return with no questions asked.
His family asks that if you see Louie, do not call out or chase after him. Please call immediately if he is spotted.

A Facebook post from yesterday from Jason Petrini with Dani Marie:
“As Im here sitting in this trail, I’m trying to muster a thought, a memory, a glimpse of hope , a possible sign. Maybe it’s a broken branch or twig, or a paw print somewhere in this dried out dirt road. I look high and low , and many times I hear a bark thinking it’s him, only to realize it’s the person down the trail with their dog.
Dogs “are the gate keepers to our soul, our protectors, the ones that no matter what happens in the outside world, in this little bubble you created with them, is all they know and care about, and us them.”
“I didn’t realize it then but I do now, these dogs that we call pets aren’t our pets, and we’re not theirs. They are the gate keepers to our soul, our protectors, the ones that no matter what happens in the outside world, in this little bubble you created with them, is all they know and care about, and us them.
“In my heart I know Louie left that day to go out and find me, and is still trying to find me. I do believe he’s alive and well and his intelligence is navigating the way.
“It takes that one phone call, that one sighting, that one area of confirmation to change it all. I know I sound like a broken dam record on repeat when I ask to invite your friends to this group. It’s the biggest tool we have. We learned that many of the sightings and reports are from you “team Louie” in this group and the power of social media.
“As we approach the fourth week this Thursday I’m petrified I’m going to fall into another lost dog statistic. I was always a firm believer that things happen for a reason, and for every reason has an effect. I also know of stories that months and years go by, and the BAM that one special day comes when you least expect it.
“I’m not giving up and and I will navigate through the unknown until I see that sign , and I am reunited with the king.
“We made a promise to Louie on that fall day we adopted him as a pup, and I made a promise to all of you. “I will ride this until the end”. I will navigate through the darkest depths , and keep circling every inch of every set of woods and open pastures , for a lifetime if I have to.
“This week has had its highs and lows, but through it all TEAM Louie has been here in this moment. With many comments , post and messages I still have to get to, and I will. “You might not know it , I read them all. It has giving me that extra push to get up this very high mountain.”
“This week we need to focus on sightings, then next steps are to bring the K9 group back up to rinse and repeat. Where also getting ready for our marketing campaign. To get Louie’s disappearance in every household in CT and beyond.
