Head-On Collision in Los Angeles leaves 2 trapped in Wreckage, Declared Dead after Extrication

Los Angeles, CA — A violent two-vehicle head-on crash in the Shadow Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles claimed the lives of two people late Monday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

Crash Scene Described as “Mangled” by First Responders

Emergency crews were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. to the crash site on Wentworth Street, just west of Wheatland Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found two victims deceased and still trapped inside their vehicles.

“The two vehicles appeared to have collided head-on and remained locked in that position,” LAFD officials confirmed.

Aerial footage from Sky5 showed the graphic aftermath, with both cars completely crumpled from the force of impact. Responders were seen blocking traffic and working to extricate the bodies from what appeared to be each driver’s seat.

Identities Not Yet Released

As of 4:30 p.m. Monday, neither of the deceased individuals had been identified, and their relationship to each other remains unknown.

The LAFD reported no additional injuries, suggesting no passengers were involved.

Road Closures and Investigation Underway

Wentworth Street was shut down in both directions as police and fire crews worked the scene and began investigating the cause of the fatal crash. Traffic was seen rerouting in the area due to the full road closure as per KTLA.

“The cause of the crash remains under investigation,” authorities said.

Officials have not confirmed whether speed, impairment, or weather conditions played a role.
