Hartford Police Arrest Two in Storefront Prostitution and Drug Operation

Hartford, CT – Mauricio Rojas, 43, and Carlos Camaro, 33, both of Hartford, were arrested on August 13 for allegedly organizing a prostitution and drug operation from a storefront in Hartford. Authorities say the two men were running the illegal operation out of the Mi Ranchito store on Park Street.

Details of the Investigation

The investigation revealed that the store was being used as a front to mask illegal activities, including the sale of sex, alcohol, and narcotics from the basement of the building. Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department stated, “In the course of the investigation, it was determined that the store was a front to mask the illegal sale of sex, alcohol, and narcotics from within the basement.”

On August 13, law enforcement executed a search and seizure warrant at the store. Inside the basement, police found an unlicensed bar, rentable pool tables, and small rooms being used for the sale of sexual acts as per WFSB.

Seizure of Drugs and Cash

The operation resulted in the seizure of 163 grams of cocaine, packaged for sale, along with $28,989 in cash. This discovery further highlighted the illegal nature of the activities taking place at the location.

Charges Filed Against Rojas and Camaro

Both Rojas and Camaro face multiple charges, including:

  • Promoting prostitution
  • Permitting prostitution
  • Possession of narcotics
  • Possession of narcotics with intent to sell
  • Sale of narcotics
  • Operating a drug factory
  • Illegal sale of alcohol

Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as they gather more evidence.
