Lumberport, WV – A Harrison County man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a man and holding a gun to his head, authorities reported.
Assault Details
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 10, 2025, when the suspect, James Short, 36, reportedly approached the victim while the victim was walking. Short was riding a four-wheeler and allegedly struck the victim in the head, causing him to fall to the ground.
After the victim fell, Short reportedly kicked him in the face, causing severe lacerations, and pointed a handgun at the victim’s temple, threatening: “If I ever see you again, you’re dead.”
The suspect then fled the scene.
Victim Injuries
The victim suffered uncontrolled bleeding to the upper eyebrow and a section of his nose was dangling due to the severe laceration. He was transported by EMS to UHC for medical treatment.
Charges and Arrest
James Short was arrested by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and charged with:
- Malicious assault
- Wanton endangerment involving a firearm
He is currently held at the North Central Regional Jail with bond set at $100,000, as reported by WDTV.
