GREEN BAY, Wis. – A Green Bay man is facing multiple charges after a confrontation with police outside the Oval Office Gentlemen’s Club on September 16, authorities said. The incident reportedly escalated quickly and involved aggressive behavior toward law enforcement.
Incident Overview
According to a criminal complaint obtained, 34-year-old Lorenzo Bijeau became confrontational when police officers arrived around 2 p.m. in response to a report of a sexual assault near a silver Hummer outside the club.
When officers approached the vehicle, Bijeau allegedly became immediately aggressive, clenching his fists and moving to the back of the Hummer. During the interaction, he reportedly yelled, “I have three white cops here, am I not supposed to say anything?” and called Wisconsin a “racist-a state.”
Bijeau continued shouting obscenities, threatening officers, and physically struggling with two of them in an attempt to leave the scene. After several warnings, officers used pepper spray to subdue him, placing him securely in a squad car before transporting him to Brown County Jail.
Charges Filed
Bijeau faces four charges, including:
- Two counts of Threat to a Law Enforcement Officer (Felony) – each carrying up to six years in prison
- Disorderly Conduct (Misdemeanor) – up to 90 days in jail
- Resisting an Officer (Misdemeanor) – up to nine months in jail
Court records indicate that Bijeau appeared in court the same day, signing a $10,000 signature bond. His next court date is set for October 26 for his adjourned initial appearance.
Context from Witnesses
Surveillance footage reportedly showed only Bijeau and a woman standing by the Hummer. The woman, identified as his girlfriend of two years, told officers that no sexual assault occurred and that Bijeau had been intoxicated at the time.
She also noted that Bijeau grew up in Philadelphia and has a history of confrontations with law enforcement dating back to his early teens, which may have contributed to his behavior during the incident.
Community and Legal Implications
The incident highlights the dangers of confrontations between law enforcement and intoxicated individuals. Bijeau’s statements and actions escalated quickly, leading to the use of force to ensure officer safety. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the event.
