Bismarck, ND – The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) in Bismarck has issued a freeze warning for over 40 counties in central and western North Dakota. The alert is in effect from 11 p.m. on October 5 until 9 a.m. on October 6 Mountain Daylight Time (12 a.m. to 10 a.m. Central Daylight Time).
This marks the first potential freeze of the season for Minot, Williston, and Bismarck. Historically, the average first freeze in Bismarck occurs on September 25, while the latest recorded first freeze is October 15.

Meteorologists indicate that temperatures in Bismarck-Mandan may not fall below freezing, but subfreezing conditions are possible, particularly in Minot and Williston.
KXNET Meteorologist Michael Gonzalez commented, “It’s a coin toss chance in Bismarck, but it’s more likely in Minot and Williston.”
