PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. – Authorities have identified the woman killed in a two-car collision involving a stolen vehicle carrying four teenagers earlier this week. The tragic crash claimed the life of 35-year-old Shaunte Denise Canty, a mother from Washington, D.C.

Details of the Deadly Crash

The collision occurred on August 26, 2025, at approximately 3:50 p.m. in Landover, Maryland. According to the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, the incident began when Seat Pleasant patrol officers observed a vehicle that had been reported stolen four days earlier. Officers followed the car from a safe distance but did not initiate a pursuit.

Investigators say the stolen vehicle accelerated northbound on Sheriff Road, ran a red light at Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, and struck the side of Canty’s vehicle, which was traveling eastbound.

Victim and Injuries

Shaunte Denise Canty died at the scene of the crash. A child who was riding with her was rushed to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Teens in Stolen Vehicle

Inside the stolen car were four juvenile males. Three of the teens were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the fourth was taken into police custody. As per Fox5DC, detectives are working with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriate charges.
