Four Arrested after High-Speed Pursuit in Sturgis; Suspects Kidnapped, Assaulted and Forced Teen Victim to Take Drugs

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A high-speed police chase through Spearfish Canyon ended with multiple arrests on Tuesday, October 7, following a report that a 15-year-old girl had been kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and forced to consume illegal drugs in Sturgis, South Dakota.

Reported Kidnapping and Assault

The Sturgis Police Department received a call about the teenager after she escaped from a residence where the alleged crimes occurred. Officers located the girl and transported her to the Meade County Law Enforcement Center, where she recounted her experiences.

The suspect was identified as Michael Wilson of Sturgis, along with the residence linked to the alleged assault and drug-related activities.

High-Speed Pursuit

While surveilling the residence, police observed Wilson and three others leaving in a vehicle. An attempted traffic stop escalated into a high-speed chase through Sturgis, Deadwood, Lead, and into Spearfish Canyon.

During the pursuit, illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were thrown from the vehicle. Police attempted to deploy spike strips, but the chase continued until the vehicle was finally stopped just outside the Spearfish city limits.

All four passengers, including Michael Wilson, were taken into custody. Wilson faces multiple felony charges, including:
