FBI Finds Bones During Search for Travis Decker in Leavenworth Forest

Wenatchee, WA — The FBI has discovered bones during their search for Travis Decker, a man wanted in connection with the deaths of his three daughters at Rock Island Campground earlier this year.

The bones’ origin remains unknown, but they are now undergoing testing at the Washington State crime lab to determine whether they are human or animal remains.

What We Know About the Search

The search for Decker is taking place in the Leavenworth forest area, covering a massive 200-square-mile area near the Rock Island Campground.

Key points about the search:

  • The multi-day search involved authorities shutting down part of the area near the campground.
  • Bones were one of the pieces of evidence recovered, according to the Wenatchee World.
  • A previous search in the area uncovered remains of what appeared to be an overdose victim, reported Jenni Rodas from the Wenatchee World.

“Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison shared that the FBI found bones in the 200-mile-acre area they searched near the Rock Island Campground off Icicle Road near Leavenworth,” Rodas said in an interview with FOX 13 Seattle.

Further Investigations Planned

While detectives are still unsure whether the bones belong to a human or an animal, more searches are expected in the area.

  • Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison stated that the FBI plans to continue searching in September.
  • The FBI operation covered more than 1 million square meters of dense terrain.

Decker’s Alleged Crimes and Ongoing Search

Travis Decker is wanted for allegedly killing his three daughters, Paityn (9), Evelyn (8), and Olivia (5), at Rock Island Campground on June 1. Since then, authorities have been relentlessly searching for him.

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to Decker’s arrest. He is considered armed and dangerous.
