Increasing Storm Coverage Midweek
Rain and storms are expected to increase on Tuesday and Wednesday:
- The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed the Mid-South under a level 1/5, marginal risk for severe storms on Tuesday, with damaging winds, spotty large hail, and heavy rain as the primary hazards.
- The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has issued a marginal risk (1/4) for excessive rainfall on Tuesday and a slight risk (2/4) on Wednesday, raising concerns about flash flooding.
- Rainfall totals could reach 2–3 inches by the end of the week, helping to reverse the 1.50-inch rainfall deficit for September and potentially easing severe-to-extreme drought conditions in the region, according to the reports.
Temperatures Expected to Drop
Along with the rain, temperatures will take a noticeable tumble this week:
- Highs will run below average in the low 80s by late week.
- Morning lows will dip into the upper 50s and low 60s, offering a refreshing change from recent warm weather.
