Hosted by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, sponsored by Bank of America, Giving Day inspires and empowers our region to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofit organizations in just 24 hours through online donations. It invites those who love Fairfield County to come together and make an incredibly powerful, collective impact by supporting local nonprofits on March 5, 2015.
The minimum donation is $10 and there is no maximum. Matching funds and prize money will be made available to amplify charitable donations, excite nonprofits and donors to participate, and keep momentum going throughout the day! Whether you give $10 or $100, your donation will make a difference!

Donations made to individual nonprofit organizations, or through the FCCFoundation.org website will NOT be eligible for Giving Day prizes.
How does it work?
Fairfield County’s Giving Day makes it fast, easy and fun to support local nonprofits. It is a 24-hour period of organized philanthropy which galvanizes the community to take action and support their local organizations.
Simply go toFCGives.orgon Thursday, March 5 from midnight to 11:59pm. You can support your favorite local nonprofit, a cause you’re passionate about, or a program located in your town or city. This site offers searchable profiles of participating nonprofits and a leaderboard on the day of the event.
All donations will be processed through this website.
Our online Leaderboard allows nonprofits and donors to track Giving Day’s progress in real-time. We’ll be following the fun along with you, so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter – and tag us in your posts with #FairfieldCountyGives.
Who can make a donation on Fairfield County’s Giving Day?
Anyone with a credit/debit card and access to the internet!
How can I make a donation?
On March 5, 2015 between 12am-11:59pm, you can go to FCGives.org to donate to any of the hundreds of participating nonprofits.
For your convenience, you will be able to search by name, town and by service category. This can be done any time leading up to March 5th and on Giving Day.
What do I need to make a donation?
You will need your credit or debit card information and will be asked to provide some additional information, including your name, email address and billing address. MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express will be accepted.
Can I authorize a third party to submit a donation on my behalf?
Each donor who enters their own credit card information directly on FCGives.org is entering his/her data into a secure web portal. Sponsors of Fairfield County’s Giving Day assume no liability for credit/debit card information provided by the donor to a third party (e.g., organization staff member or volunteer).
What forms of payment are NOT accepted?
Donations via check, cash, or stock will not be accepted, as well as donations made on the Community Foundation’s website – www.fccfoundation.org.
Donations must be made online at FCGives.org.
The Community Foundation will not enter gifts on behalf of a donor and therefore will not accept donations by phone.
How will my address and personal information be used?
Email addresses will be used to transmit electronic tax receipt(s) for donations made through FCGives.org,as well as a post-event survey. Unless you choose to give anonymously, your name, email address and billing address will be shared with the organization(s) to which your donations will be credited.
Fairfield County’s Community Foundation does not retain credit card information and your personal data will not be shared with or sold to any outside vendors or third parties. Unless you withhold permission for us to do so, Fairfield County’s Community Foundation may send periodic emails and print updates on research reports, community trends and regional philanthropy news, organizational highlights and special giving opportunities or events.
How will I be recognized as a donor?
You will receive an immediate thank you email and a tax receipt from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. The nonprofit(s) you support may also send a personal thank you note as well.
If you prefer not to be recognized, you can choose to make an anonymous contribution. Anonymous donors will still receive a tax receipt.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Donations made via FCGives.org on March 5th are 100% tax deductible.
What is the minimum and maximum donation amounts?
The minimum donation amount for Fairfield County’s Giving Day is $10, but there is no limit to how much you can give!
All gifts made through FCGives.org are non-refundable.
Does it cost anything to donate?
There is no fee to you as a donor. There are standard processing fees applied to your gift, which will be withheld from the final disbursement to nonprofit organizations.
How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?
The Community Foundation will be using Kimbia as its technology partner for the Giving Day program. Kimbia is a recognized technology leader for match fundraising programs. There will be a platform use fee of 2.99% per donation assessed by Kimbia for use of their proprietary electronic platform. A credit card processing fee and Community Foundation administrative fee of no more than 4% per donation will be assessed by the payment gateway provider.
May I designate how a nonprofit uses my donation?
All donations will be granted for unrestricted use by the chosen nonprofits.
Who is eligible to receive donations on Giving Day?
Verified 501(c)3 public charities that provide services in any of the following 23 communities are able to register for Fairfield County’s Giving Day:
Bethel, Bridgeport, Brookfield, Danbury, Darien, Easton, Fairfield,
Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, New Fairfield, Newtown, Norwalk, Redding, Ridgefield, Shelton, Sherman, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, Wilton.
Fairfield County’s Community Foundation will verify that each participating organization is eligible.
All organizations who wish to participate must register by February 13, 2015.
What nonprofits are participating in Fairfield County’s Giving Day?
As eligible organizations register and become approved, they will automatically populate on FCGives.org.
If you don’t see your favorite organization on there, be sure to contact and encourage them to register.
Remember, organizations must register by February 13, 2015.
Can I give to more than one organization?
Yes, and we encourage it! There are several ways to give on March 5:
—On the homepage of FCGives.org, there will be a multi-give donation form that allows you to submit payment once and give to multiple organizations.
—Every nonprofit will also receive a unique donation page that they can share with staff, volunteers, donors and other community members. You can visit each organization’s individual page.
What is a “unique donation”?
Certain prizes will be awarded to organizations based on the number of unique gifts. A unique donation is defined as one gift to one organization from one donor. For the purpose of awarding prizes that require unique donations, multiple donations by the same donor to different organizations will count as a unique gift to each organization.
How safe is my online donation?
Fairfield County’s Giving Day is powered by Kimbia, and is a secure PCI- Level 1 compliant site for donating to your favorite charities. You can be sure that your personal information is protected when you donate through FCGives.org.

I second the Jigoshop recommendation wholeheartedly. I’m building a site using this plugin and find it incredibly easy to develop with. Theming is simple (combination of files and hooks), code is clean and easy to read, and back-end is simple to use. It doesn’t do every little thing but it’s MUCH easier to work with than WP eCommerce/GetShopped, IMHO. The documentation is minimal at this point but you don’t need much if you’re good with PHP. I was also a little peeved they switched their support forums to paid out of the blue but I understand the motivation.

Has helped me when leading, at times. I love the way God works, so many times he has nbacked up what you have sent for the day with other verses from books etc. that I am reading WOW God is so Good.
