Eversource Reports 134 Bethel Customers Without Power, Other Outages Mostly in Southeast CT

Eversource reports 134 Bethel customers without power tonight (2%), with a total of 70,327 outages in CT out of 1,266,357 total customers served in CT.  The worst outages seem to be in southeastern CT.

Warnings are out from Bethel Emergency Management & Fire Marshal via robocalls that there are many trees down in roads in Bethel and not to drive through barricades, and to best stay indoors.

“MULTIPLE TREES, POLES, WIRES DOWN IN BETHEL. DO NOT CROSS BARRICADES! DO NOT GO OUTSIDE & WALK NEAR DOWED WIRES. THEY ARE DANGEROUS! FD & PD WILL NOTIFY EVERSOURCE OF ISSUES. IF YOU LOSE POWER, STILL CALL EVRSOURCE 1-800-286-2000 so they have an accurate count of outages.”

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch and high wind warning until 6AM Monday, October 30th.  Winds…Southeast 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. Timing…Damaging winds through 3 am. Strong westerly winds likely Monday.  Impacts…Damaging wind gusts will blow down tree limbs, trees and power lines. Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

FORECAST:

Overnight
Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then showers likely after 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Steady temperature around 65. Windy, with an east wind 25 to 30 mph becoming south 17 to 22 mph. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Monday
Showers likely, mainly before 11am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 50 by noon. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Monday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 38. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph.
